Dogs in Rescue
Quote from a Rescue Centre Manager: "There are thousands of dogs not able to come into rescue centres because they are full. Every day at our Centre we persuade people to try the Jan Fennell method of training so that they don't have to give up and part with their dog. This saves the kennel space for dogs in the Dog Pounds that are going to be put to sleep. If people bought Jan's book 'The Dog Listener' and read it along with all the other stuff they buy when getting their dog they would not be looking to get rid of their dog because they couldn't cope with its behaviour. There are not as many returned to us here now which used to block the kennels, so preventing us taking more in. We receive emails and photos every day from the Dog Pounds about dogs needing somewhere to go. If we can stop so many being abandoned by educating people in training it will prevent dogs being killed because there is nowhere for them to go. Every owner that we can help to keep their dog saves the life of another. I strongly believe that training people is the preventative. No one can afford or wants to open more Shelters - most have to cut down due to rising cots of paying people to look after them" March 2011
